FOOD, WINE & CRAFTS ROUTE

The West Coast is blessed with abundant seafood and succulent Cape crayfish (lobster) and no visit to our area should end without eating alfresco in one of our open air Sandveld restaurants. Here our superb seafood is complemented by other traditional South African dishes, such as meat braaied over hot coals, curried sosaties and boerewors. Each town has many excellent restaurants and cafes available.
The Cederberg produces some delicious wines from the picturesque vineyards along the Oliphants River, a magnificent sight in autumn as the leaves turn russet and red. The Oliphants River Wine Route encompasses seven cellars, one of them the highest wine estate in South Africa. The region specializes in good, but still affordable, white and red wines.
The Cederberg and Sandveld have become favourite spots for artists over the last few years. Each of the larger towns offers art and craft shops.
